# Seattle Seahawks 2026: The Coverage Report — 29 Super Bowl picks, 20 of them filed in February

*Published 2026-09-06 — MissedTakes*

The Seahawks won the title in the 2025 season, going 14-3 and beating New England in the Super Bowl. That result runs through everything our tracked outlets said about them, and it makes Seattle, on paper, the best-covered team in the database. On closer inspection, "best-covered" mostly means "picked correctly once the picking was easy."

One caveat up front, and only once: everything below measures the outlets and shows MissedTakes tracks, not all of football media. A pundit's absence here means we did not capture him, not that he said nothing.

## The coverage baseline: heavy, and unusually well-graded

Grouping every take in the database by team subject, Seattle sits high in both columns.

- **660 takes** about the Seahawks, 12th of 32 clubs. Buffalo (1,026) and the Rams (915) lead.
- **277 graded takes**, fifth of 32 — behind Kansas City (389), the Rams (326), Buffalo (309) and New England (300).
- The league average is 212 graded takes per club. Seattle is 65 above it.

So: heavily covered, not thinly. And the grades are the friendliest in the league. Seattle takes average **75.0 accuracy** and a **+58.6 skill delta** — both the highest of any of the 32 teams. Nothing else clears 68 on accuracy; Carolina is next on skill at +55.5. Against the [Ravens' 29.9 accuracy](/nfl), Seattle looks like the one club pundits simply understood.

## Where that accuracy came from

Sort Seattle's graded takes by type and the answer is immediate. **Super Bowl Picks: 29 graded, 100.0 average accuracy, +104.8 skill.** Every single one was right, because every single one named the team that won.

Then check the dates.

Two of the 29 were filed before the postseason. Comedian [Adam Ray](/pundits/adam-ray) [said it on August 28, 2025](/opinions/8f70806c-a968-4328-8378-9d1b8ed889ca) — "Seahawks win the Super Bowl" — with 18 weeks left, and scored the only 200 skill delta in the group. [Gregg Rosenthal](/pundits/gregg-rosenthal) got there on November 21: ["I just think I think they might win the Super Bowl. I think they would be my pick right now."](/opinions/255371ab-5886-4cdd-ac12-db70a1cc672f) Seven weeks out, +139.

The other 27 came in January and February, and 20 of them landed on February 3 or later, once the matchup itself was known. All 20 grade at 100 accuracy and exactly +100 skill — our scoring gives them no lead-time credit, which is the point. [David Harrison](/pundits/david-harrison)'s February 18 entry is the purest version: [he recounted a pick he had already made](/opinions/65812d29-70e3-4f29-952e-2987995a2699) at the start of the postseason. It still counts as a graded, correct Super Bowl call.

A team's coverage looks excellent when a plurality of the graded record is a champion pick placed at or near zero weeks remaining.

## Where the field actually earned it: the NFC West

The genuinely early money was on the division, and it was good. Division Winner calls on Seattle: **13 graded, 84.6 accuracy, +162.5 skill.** Eleven of the 13 were correct; the two misses are [Marcus Mosher](/pundits/marcus-mosher) power-rankings calls from late 2024, when Seattle did not win the West.

The 2025 hits were placed early and against the grain — the naive pick in that division was the Rams, so backing Seattle was worth full difficulty. [Matt Hasselbeck](/pundits/matt-hasselbeck) filed [on July 14, 2025](/opinions/757877f8-ca0d-4888-b062-a4a6dd71d0e6). [Colin Cowherd](/pundits/colin-cowherd) called it his shocker [on August 13](/opinions/289595f7-2a5f-4b64-95ce-d0bd0d5084ee). [Kyle Brandt](/pundits/kyle-brandt) filed it four separate times, starting September 2, and [returned in November to say so](/opinions/9b73596f-18f6-4b5c-92e9-d8195ad9446b): "not as a wild card, not behind the Rams, not behind San Francisco, but the Sam Darnold, wildly unproven Seahawks." Each of those preseason calls scored +200.

What nobody had was the size of it. Seattle's season win-total record is **8 graded at 20.0 average accuracy** — the worst-graded claim type on the team. Seven calls covered the 2025 season, against 14 actual wins:

![2025 Seahawks win-total calls vs. 14 actual wins](/posts/visuals/f27a730f-8e4f-4488-bd82-3a3b50553c2d.png)

[Richard Sherman](/pundits/richard-sherman)'s 11 was the closest at 40 accuracy and +70 skill. [Brady Quinn](/pundits/brady-quinn) at 5-12 and Cowherd's Week 1 "could win nine games" both graded 0 and −10. Across the field, our win-total consensus has Seattle 2025 as a **collective miss of 5 wins on 7 calls** — one of the largest group misses of the season, alongside New England and Denver at the same margin.

The shape is consistent: the field saw a division winner and missed a 14-win champion by a mile, then unanimously picked the champion in February.

## The roster cutdown: 35 calls, none graded

This series' news hook does not have a record here yet. Filtering Seattle to [Roster Spot Calls](/predictions/roster-spot) returns **35 takes and zero grades** — the type does not even appear in Seattle's graded-by-type table. Site-wide, only 49 roster-spot calls have been graded at all. So there are no surprises to lead with, because nothing has settled.

What is on file, pending: [Shannon Sharpe](/pundits/shannon-sharpe) [expecting Seattle to keep Jalen Milroe](/opinions/7ad94c71-bd4a-4478-923a-0f6df1695352) with Drew Lock as the clear No. 2; [Nathan Jahnke](/pundits/nathan-jahnke) flagging [sixth-round receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr.](/opinions/47566b48-8024-4960-b25c-11c03fe43543) as eighth on the depth chart with "his roster spot in question"; Brendon Nelson expecting the team to live with Jason Myers at kicker; Randy Gurzi projecting Trevon Diggs to open on the practice squad. Several of those writers do not have pundit pages on the site. Check back when the grades land.

## Who has a named record on Seattle

Fifteen pundits clear five graded Seahawks takes. The most-graded:

| Pundit | Graded | Avg accuracy | Skill |
|---|---:|---:|---:|
| Colin Cowherd | 24 | 64.1 | +62.3 |
| [Nick Wright](/pundits/nick-wright) | 21 | 85.2 | +69.9 |
| Gregg Rosenthal | 15 | 78.1 | +29.3 |
| Rich Eisen | 15 | 85.3 | +73.1 |
| Kyle Crabbs | 12 | 47.6 | +38.0 |

Below that the samples get thin fast. Kyle Brandt's Seattle line reads 5 graded, 100.0 accuracy, +182.4 skill — which is the division call scored several times over, not a body of work. [Chris Brockman](/pundits/chris-brockman) is 8 graded at 98.5. Neither number should be read as a ranking.

By outlet, [The Herd with Colin Cowherd](/outlets) supplied by far the most Seattle material we grade — 126 takes, 85 graded, 74.5 accuracy — with Move the Sticks (26 graded, 93.9) and First Things First (21 graded, 75.1) next.

The rest of the graded record is ordinary: 63 Game Outcome picks at 87.3, 31 score predictions at 79.7, 47 mock-draft picks touching Seattle at 58.1, 17 award picks at 41.2. The [scoring methodology](/methodology) explains why a February champion pick and an August one are not the same call, and Seattle 2025 is the cleanest example of that gap the database has produced.
