## How Erdahl won it

Every one of the 23 Erdahl takes that settled in the window was graded on August 17, and almost all of them were 2025-season futures: division winners, conference champions, a few old game picks. The [MissedTakes Score](/methodology) pays for beating a naive baseline — for division winners, the naive pick is last season's winner of that division — and Erdahl spent the week getting paid for going against the incumbents.

The engine of the week was Jacksonville. Erdahl called the Jaguars AFC South champions in three separate September appearances, including her [full 14-team playoff field](/opinions/2ffe1331-1cd5-4ce2-8d45-66b570ea2a0b) ("The Jags are my AFC South winners"). The naive pick was Houston. Each of those graded 100 for accuracy and +200 in skill. Denver did the same job in the other direction of the same division board: her repeated AFC West call ("your sound sound logic about the Denver Broncos makes them my AFC West") graded 100 with skill of +200 and, in the later-claimed versions, +156, against a naive Kansas City.

The one non-futures highlight: back on September 3 she said Tampa Bay would go into Atlanta in Week 1 and "hit the mute button." Tampa won 23-20 — 100 accuracy, +200 skill, with the naive pick on Atlanta.

The week was not clean. Her Minnesota block — Vikings to win the NFC North, the NFC, and the Super Bowl — settled as a row of zeros. So did the Bills, Ravens, Buccaneers and Rams division calls. A January 2025 pick of Buffalo over Kansas City graded 0 accuracy and -100 skill (Kansas City won 32-29), and a Buccaneers-over-Washington pick landed at 0 as Washington won 23-20. By our count of the rows on her page, eight of the 23 scored a perfect 100, three scored 50, and eleven scored 0.

That split is the whole story of Erdahl's profile. Her site-wide accuracy is 35.4, second-lowest among the top ten on the [leaderboard](/leaderboard), where she sits fifth on score. The reason is type mix: Division Winners is her best category (62.5 accuracy, 108.86 score across 14 graded), while Award Picks are 0-for-9 with a score of 0 and Super Bowl Picks sit at 12.5 accuracy. She gets credit for the unpopular team calls that hit and takes zeros on the awards guesses that everybody else misses too.

## How Brooks won accuracy

Brooks' seven settled calls split between two grading days. On August 19, four resolved: Domonique Orange as a Day 2/third-round defensive tackle (actual pick 82 — 100), Ty Simpson as a bottom-of-the-first or second-round value rather than a top-six pick (actual pick 13 — 100), a Calvin Ridley roster call graded 100 but with zero skill because the naive answer was the same, and Arkansas' Mike Washington as a Day 2 pick when he actually went 122nd (38.56). On August 17, three January 2025 divisional-round picks landed: Kansas City (100) and Philadelphia (100), both matching the naive pick for no skill credit, and Baltimore over Buffalo (0 accuracy, -100 skill, Buffalo won 27-25).

That is a representative week for him. Brooks' career file is 113 graded takes at 75.94 accuracy and a 20.24 score — high hit rate, modest edge over baseline, because 99 of those takes are mock draft picks where the baseline is already generous. The best and worst calls of the week came from the same well. One [Andrew Erickson](/pundits/andrew-erickson) article — Jordan Mason to lead the league in rushing touchdowns, Broncos to blow out Tennessee, Garrett Wilson a sell — [scored 100 on its Fantasy Bust Calls and 0 on its Sleeper Calls](/opinions/3809e587-6fa2-464b-ab98-fd96d353c1bd). Same with [Mitchell Eisenstein](/pundits/mitchell-eisenstein)'s [Lions-over-Bills Super Bowl slate](/opinions/7fedb68a-c73b-4823-9b46-158905a559ef), which turned up in both columns. [Jourdan Rodrigue](/pundits/jourdan-rodrigue) (Texans over Eagles, Matthew Golden as Green Bay's No. 1) and [Tom Strachan](/pundits/tom-strachan) (a long list of receiver values) each posted a 100. [Cynthia Frelund](/pundits/cynthia-frelund)'s Week 1 model slate — Bears upsetting Minnesota, Bills over Baltimore — graded 0.

On the consensus side, the 2025 season is still the field's cautionary tale. Thirteen pundits set a Kansas City win total and the group missed by 6.3 wins on the low side of reality's ledger; New England, Seattle and Denver were each missed by 5 the other way. The MVP ballot, at least, worked: 26 of 100 recorded picks went to Matthew Stafford, who won it, with Drake Maye second at 14. Offensive Rookie of the Year was a coin flip nobody called confidently — Tetairoa McMillan won with 5 of 29 picks, tied with Ashton Jeanty.
