Building for the 2026 NFL season

We keep score on the people keeping score.

Pundits make predictions all week long. Almost nobody goes back to check them. MissedTakes does — every ranking, pick, and projection we log gets graded against what actually happened, and the results add up into an accuracy score you can look up.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    We log the take

A pundit predicts something checkable — a final score, a power ranking, a win total — and we record it with a link to where they said it.

  2. Step 2

    The season answers it

Games get played. Standings settle. We pull the results and grade the prediction against what actually happened.

  3. Step 3

    The score updates

Every graded take moves the pundit’s accuracy — overall, by sport, and by the kind of prediction they were making.

Starting with four kinds of prediction

The NFL is the proof of concept: predictions get published constantly and the results are unambiguous. Other sports come next, and the same method works anywhere people make checkable calls.

  • Power rankings

Scored against where teams actually finished.

  • Score predictions

Graded on the winner and on how close the margin was.

  • Outcome picks

Straight calls on who wins — with credit for the bold ones.

  • Season win totals

Measured against the record a team actually posted.

This is a scoreboard, not a pillory

Predicting football is genuinely hard. Injuries, weather, a bad bounce on third down — pundits are reasoning about thousands of variables with incomplete information, on deadline, in public. Being wrong is the job description, not a character flaw.

So we play it straight. We show our math, we link every source, and we say plainly when we have not graded enough predictions to draw a real conclusion about someone. The numbers can be funny. The framing will not be cheap.

Not live yet

There are no scores on this site because there is nothing graded yet. We are logging predictions through the preseason and grading them as results land. Check back when the season starts.
