The Pittsburgh Steelers were founded in 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they remain headquartered and play home games at Acrisure Stadium. The franchise is owned by Art Rooney II, with Omar Khan serving as general manager and Mike McCarthy as head coach. Known variously as the Steel Curtain, Black and Gold, Blitzburgh, and the Rooneymen, the club maintains a roster featuring T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, Pat Freiermuth, Joey Porter Jr., Jalen Ramsey, and Patrick Queen among its notable players. The Steelers have been a consistent playoff presence over the past decade and a half. Their 2010 campaign ended in a Super Bowl appearance following a 12–4 regular season. From 2015 through 2017, the team posted three consecutive playoff berths, culminating in a 13–3 record. After a brief dip, Pittsburgh returned to the postseason in 2020 at 12–4 and has qualified in four of the last five seasons through 2025, each time finishing 10–7 or better.

“his roster status bears watching even if he's still incredibly likely to earn a spot”
“Howard's poor play against the Jets should remove him from most teams' list of candidates they'd add during the waiver claim window. After that, adding him back to the practice squad should be easy, and it'd be even more surprising than keeping four QBs if he chose to sign elsewhere instead of Pittsburgh.”
“they have already decided they are keeping their two young quarterbacks, Will Howard and Drew Allar.”

“Veteran Steelers beat reporter Mark Kaboly took things a step further, writing over the weekend that “Rudolph isn’t getting released, cut, traded, or put on the practice squad. Full stop.””
“That leaves Allar, an almost sure bet to make the team, and Howard fighting for QB3 honors.”
“The third-round pick is a lock to make the 53-man roster as the No. 3 quarterback, meaning he isn't facing the same type of pressure that Howard or even Rudolph are at the moment.”
“There's a better possibility that Savage won't even make the final 53-man roster.”
